Bookshelf Tour: Victorian, Edwardian, 1920s, etc

The long-awaited last shelf of fiction! We finally get to brush shoulders with Peter Pan, Sherlock Holmes, Jay Gatsby, and other beloved characters, plus some mid-century gems like The Hobbit.* The late Victorian era was where I fell in love with classic literature, so I have a special affection for these books.

*Forgot to mention it in the video, but I have the complete Lord of the Rings, of course – it’s on my “Re-Read” shelf at the moment. 🙂 There’s a couple of other books in the same situation, like Doyle’s The Lost World.

  Marai was a 20th century Hungarian author. He’s still pretty obscure in the US, but I would certainly read more by him!

I just noticed you have a re-read shelf. Does it have a good bit of turnover?

  If only! 😛 I re-read a grand total of 2 books last year. I’m aiming to do better this time, but the morbid side of me tends to reach for new-to-me books, being a slow reader with a long TBR list.

    I keep thinking of adding some purposeful re-reading as a discipline, but have yet to try. I did re-read one last year for the purposes of giving it a proper review, but that probably doesn’t count…
