Reading Goals for 2022

Yet another brief and troubled year comes to end. I will reflect on my 2021 reading soon, but first, goals for the next. (Because no matter what happens, the reading must go on!)

  • Read lighter books on purpose. – I read too many serious books this year, in part because I am a mood reader and that was my mood. Still, I will try to break out of that box next year. Wodehouse will likely make an appearance.
  • Find a good RSS reader and update my blog list. I’ve had such trouble this year following people’s blogs with my current reader (Akregator). That, along with people’s links changing, has meant I’ve missed out on a lot of posts. Must fix this!
  • Read more books recommended to me by others. I often come across good books on others’ blogs or which people actively recommend to me. I want to do better at reading them.
  • Read more books I own. Well, of course. Now why wouldn’t I do that. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • Continue Reading the World. More Africa, Asia, and South America to come!
  • Read Dune with my brother. Should be fun!
  • Make no other goals. I have a hunch next year is going to be quite busy and stressful, so ideally I need to take it easy and not over-commit myself.

  1. You DO read serious books…I’m always slightly in awe of the deep ones you dive into. I look forward to seeing what you consider light….I suspect it’s a bit like Hermione’s “bit of light reading”! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m hoping to tackle Dune at some point myself….should make for interesting comparative reviews.

  2. I know what you mean about the blog roll. I had a great one on my Blogger blog but when I changed to self-hosted WordPress, I couldn’t figure out how to put anything on for the longest time. Finally I discovered how to put on blogs and their links but there are no feeds so I have no idea if anyone has posted anything new and usually end up looking at my old blog. Sigh!

Funny …. I just bought Dune in hopes of reading it next year. It’s so nice you have someone close to you to read with and that you can compare in person. I know so many people but no one who is really interested in reading the classics.

In any case, I hope you have a great reading 2022!!

    1. Yeah, the feed thing gets complex! Especially now that there’s even more platforms than WP and Blogger. I think I have a Feedly or FeedBurner account but I keep holding out hope of finding a good one that’s desktop so I don’t have to maintain yet another online account. ๐Ÿ˜†

Ooh, maybe we can compare notes on Dune, too! I really loved the movie, and I keep hearing the book is even better.

      1. I re-read ‘Dune’ earlier in the year (the first time for 40+ years) and was impressed (again) by its depth. I reviewed it @ the end of September if you want to check it out. I look forward to your review. I’m planning on re-reading at least the next two books in the set next year. I’ll schedule in the next three for 2023!
