The (very simple) Rules:
-answer the questions
-make up new ones
-tag people
1. If you had to go into the witness protection program, and they gave you the option of moving inside a book, where would you like to go?
Sherlock Holmes’s London. I’ve always wanted to meet my hero, and he sounds like just the sort of chap you’d like to hang out with during a witness protection program.
2. Have you ever claimed to have read a book you actually hadn’t read?
Not that I can remember… my scrupulous brain wouldn’t let me!
3. What author have you read the most books by?
If we’re talking full-length novels, I am pretty sure it is Agatha Christie. I was crazy about her books when I was about 12 and read all of Miss Marple, all of Tommy & Tuppence, and much of the Poirot series.
4. Do you ever buy fun bookish merch like mugs, shirts, artwork, etc?
Not as much any more, but I used to! I once had a T-shirt with the Tree of Gondor on it.
5. Do you usually read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?
Oh, many at once.
6. Are you a mood reader, or do you plan out your reads?
Yes… I’m mostly a mood reader, but I have been getting better at planned readalongs.
7. If you could meet the author of your favorite book and ask them one question, what would you ask them?
Franz Kafka (The Metamorphosis)? I don’t know. I expect a conversation with him would be horribly awkward, but one I’d remember fondly in hindsight.
8. Have you ever tried a new food or drink because you read about it in a book or story?
That’s exactly the kind of thing I would do, but I’m not sure that I have.
9. Have you ever named a pet after a book character?
Sort of? I only had one pet that was all my own. He was a black rabbit named Timothy Licorice, and I wrote a story or two about him when I was little.
10. What book are you reading right now?
Too many, but the last one I picked up was Letters to Felice by Franz Kafka.

Judging by Watson, Holmes would be an exasperating roommate!
It’s cool that you wrote stories about your rabbit. Were they realistic or more fanciful?

Oh, very fanciful 🙂 although loosely based on real life. The one I have in my old files is a Christmas story where Timothy hears about Jesus from a bird, learns about hibernation from a squirrel, and gets treats from his person (me) on Christmas Day. I feel as if there might have been a second story I started, but I can’t remember what it was about…

How fun! Not quite like the Lewis brothers’, but fun all the same. As a kid I scratched my creative itch by looking at toys in Walmart & Kmart, then creating characters out of said toys and doing stories in my head with them, usually while jumping on the trampoline. 😀

Sherlock Holmes’s London sounds delightful for a place to stay tucked away! I suspect Holmes and I would get along smashingly well because I would be too shy to say much to him, and I don’t mind everything being a giant mess, so he could ignore me pretty easily, and I could ignore all his papers all over and so on.
I think we mood readers seem more likely to read many things at once. At least, from what I have noticed!
